Approximately 65 members and invited guests attended U3A Nunawading’s 31st AGM, which was held via Zoom due to current COVID-19 restrictions.

Following her Acknowledgment of Country, President Liz Hooper welcomed our Ward Councilor Denise Massoud, Whitehorse Council Officers Melinda Brown and Jaime Edge, U3A Network Victoria President Susan Webster, Life Members and Members.
The Minutes of the 2020 AGM were accepted and as there was no correspondence the President and Treasurer Pauline Wang delivered their reports for the year. Their full Reports and Financial Statements are included in our 2020 – 2021 Annual Report which is available on our website and can be accessed here https://u3anunawading.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/U3A-Nunawading-Annual-Report-2021.pdf

The Election of Office Bearers and Committee Members for the coming year was then conducted. As the number of nominations did not exceed the number of vacancies the following members were elected unopposed for the next 12 months:

Vice Presidents: Valerie Donlon and Gary Walker
Secretary: Colin Carter
Treasurer: Pauline Wang
Committee Members: Frank Baseden, Ken Briscoe, Paulina Chong, Athalie Edis, Marlene Fernandes, Lindsay Glen, Terry Hart, June MacDonald, Elsie Mutton, Judith Palmer.
Committee Members Andrew Lockwood and Andrew Gee did not re-nominate and the President paid tribute to their individual contributions to our U3A.
Andrew Gee was thanked particularly for his work as Convenor of Transition to the Hub Committee over the past several years to ensure the smooth transition from Silver Grove to the Nunawading Community Hub.

Life Membership

Liz then thanked Andrew Lockwood for his outstanding contribution to U3A Nunawading over many years and especially through his work on the development and implementation of UMAS and as System Administrator since 2014. This membership system is now used by 45 U3As throughout Victoria and Andrew is continuing to provide leadership in this area through his involvement with U3A Network Victoria.
In recognition of his outstanding contribution since joining the committee over 10 years ago Andrew was awarded Life Membership of U3A Nunawading at the meeting.
