Crowds flocked to Summer School

The Partner Yoga class at Summer School 2025

Summer School 2025 was a week of informative talks, workshops, cooking demonstrations, movies, a quiz, a sing-a-long, and a partner yoga session enjoyed by many of our members.

Each day commenced with a Taiji class on the lawn and the second week of Summer School concluded with six excursions. See the photos of activities and cooking sessions here.

Once again, U3A was fortunate to have members and guest presenters who generously gave their time and shared their skills, knowledge, and passions. We are grateful for the preparation and thought each presenter put into their sessions, providing our members with new experiences and ideas. The positive response from members who attended and were appreciative of the sessions, was wonderful to hear.

It takes a village!

Of course, Summer School would not happen without the many members who volunteered and worked hard for many months to provide an interesting program for our members. Thank you to the Summer School team: June MacDonald, Kim Tu, Lorraine Fowles, Sue Fraser, Huah Eu, Carola Lehmer, Terry Hart and Valerie Donlon, for the planning and organisation that was involved to create the Summer School program. Thank you to Elsie Mutton and Ken Briscoe for managing the class lists, the long wait lists and all the emailing that was involved. Thank you to Bert Lopes and Lindsay Glen for giving their time to provide IT support each day. Thank you to Bronwyn Hughes who provided support at short notice during the week and to the Reception Desk Volunteers who kindly offered their time for the special Summer School Reception Desk roster.

Donations

Thanks also to two of our cooking demonstrators for passing on their payment for the cooking ingredients as donations to the Australian NPC Disease Foundation Inc – working to support and cure Niemenn Pick Disease (Childhood dementia) – and the Jane McGrath Cancer Care Nurses.
