2026 Summer School – a one-week wonder!

Gorgeous candles from the craft workshops

This year’s Summer School condensed 32 presentations, nine cooking classes, three external events, and three movie sessions into a single week instead of the two-week program offered in previous years.

A total of 22 guest speakers contributed to the program, including a retired detective, a fire safety officer, a cardiologist, a gut health professional, and specialists from the Commonwealth Bank and the health sector. Additional presenters covered topics ranging from happy and healthy exercise to artificial intelligence, online safety, and much more.

A strong turnout

This very engaging program attracted strong participation. We recorded 1,934 enrolments, with 1,643 attendances.

Participants enjoyed a wide variety of practical and creative activities, including an introduction to watercolour painting, facial massage, embroidery hoop making, movie screenings, candle decorating, and cooking classes. Culinary highlights included Frankfurt balls, spiral shell curry puffs, seaweed sauce snacks, and pork jerky.

It was particularly pleasing to see many members attending more than one class, which demonstrated the keen interest in the program.

Thanks to presenters and support

I would like to acknowledge the 14 U3A Nunawading speakers who generously gave their time to present engaging and varied sessions. I am sincerely grateful for their contribution. Thanks, too, to Elsie, Ken and the team in Course Admin and to Lindsay Glen for AV/IT support.

Finally, I wish to express my sincere appreciation to all speakers and presenters for their insightful contributions to the U3A Nunawading 2026 Summer School. Thank you for making the program such a success.
