Cross-generational activities are great for both generations involved, as we have seen in the TV series “Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds”. On Monday 4 August, we had our own version of this when a group of children from the neighbouring Explorers childcare centre visited the Chinese Dance class.
Both age groups enjoyed the session immensely. The children created a Thank You card including the message below from the Educators. The card is on display near the entrance to the Hub.

Dear Community Hub Team,
On behalf of all the educators and children from the Kingfishers group, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for the wonderful experience you provided during our excursion yesterday.
Our children had an amazing time exploring the vibrant atmosphere, enjoying the colourful costumes, cultural music, and the engaging activities you so thoughtfully organized. The magic show brought smiles, laughter, and excitement to every child, while the cultural dance performance was a truly memorable experience. The opportunity to explore musical instruments and join in with the dancers encouraged the children to participate with confidence, curiosity, and enthusiasm.
The excursion provided a rich learning experience that supported the children’s sense of identity and belonging while strengthening their connection to the wider community. It also fostered an appreciation and respect for diverse cultures, traditions, music, and dance in a meaningful and engaging way.
The children were especially delighted to finish the day by taking home their balloons, which brought even more joy and served as a lovely reminder of such a special experience.
