Whitehorse Seniors Festival Grand Opening
On Thursday 1 October, Nunawading U3A hosted the Grand Opening of Whitehorse Seniors Festival here at the Hub for the enjoyment of members and the local community.
The day was full of entertainment including Tai Chi, Line dancing, Chinese and Mongolian dancing, Zumba, Scottish and English Country Dancing, Rock and Roll, Nunawading U3A Choir, our Silver Grove Swing Band, Chair Exercise group, Guitar group and a Ukulele Jam session. There were also Art and Craft displays as well. We were honoured to have our Mayor Kirsten Langford officially open the event. Our guests included three State and Federal members of Parliament (well, there is a State election in November!)
A lot goes in to organising the event so congratulations to Paulina Chong and her events team, members of the Committee, volunteers, and City of Whitehorse staff for their work in helping to make the day a huge success.
Whitehorse Spring Festival
Whitehorse Spring Festival will return on Sunday 18 October from 10 am until 4 pm at the Whitehorse Civic Precinct and The Round where many of our classes will be performing. Come along and support these talented U3A members. We will also be hosting an information stall for U3A. Performers and times are in the Spring Festival article.
Sausage Sizzle
Our Social Committee is hosting a sausage sizzle on Wednesday 28 October. See the Sausage Sizzle article for more details.

An interesting fact
At the AGM of U3A Network Victoria on 16 September, it was announced that there are now over 44,000 members of U3A in Victoria! This is a 10% increase over last year. We’re a growing movement!
Until next time…
