The outlook for U3A Nunawading in 2022 is looking very positive! We had over 1,500 enrolments in the first week with many classes already full. Our members are clearly excited to be back, and new members are eager to join. Welcome to you all!
Last week was party time where we thanked our hard workers. On Tuesday we had the Reception Desk Volunteers’ morning tea, on Wednesday the Leaders’ lunch, and on Friday, after closing the office at 12noon, the Committee of Management had our own celebration. Please see relevant articles and photos later in this Update. In addition, many classes have been holding their own celebrations, including the Chinese Dance and Rock & Roll classes.

Thanks to our Course Administration team, Elsie Mutton and Ken Briscoe, for navigating between lockdowns and responding to ever-changing restrictions. Thanks to Sue Ebert, our Zoom Administrator who kept many classes running via Zoom. Communications Coordinator Valerie Donlon and Helen Smith kept us well informed through our e-Updates, Lindsay Glen and Bert Lopes continued to provide AV assistance to Class Leaders, and Volunteer Coordinator Judith Palmer continuously updated our Reception Desk Volunteer rosters.
So many others behind the scenes work hard to make sure this organization runs smoothly. Some are less visible than others and I want to thank them too. They include our Treasurer, Pauline Wang; Secretary, Colin Carter; Risk Committee Convenor, Terry Hart; Policy and Procedures Coordinator, Athalie Edis; Grants Coordinator, Frank Baseden; Special Events Coordinator, June MacDonald; UMAS Administrator, Andrew Lockwood and Paulina Chong who assists with events. Our new Committee of Management members, Vice-President Gary Walker, and Marlene Fernandes are already making a strong contribution to the team. Thank you all!
We open the office on Monday 10 January and Summer School begins on 11 January.
Till then I wish you all a safe and happy festive season!
Liz Hooper, President (on behalf of the Committee of Management)
