Come and meet a vulcanologist. Get the ‘real oil’ from Emeritus Professor Ray Cas, former Professor of Volcanology where he was also Head of the School of Geosciences School at Monash University. He is still undertaking research as Emeritus Professor. At our October Forum, he will pose the question: “Are industrial greenhouse gases the only cause of climate change and, if not, how significant are they compared with other causes?“
Dr Cas will outline all the factors which contribute to climate change on Earth including cooling of the Earth since it formed 4.5 billion years ago, changes in its orbital behaviour around the Sun, the effects of super-volcanic eruptions, the dynamics of the Earth’s atmosphere, and oceans and how they are influenced by the Earth’s changing geography through time. Did you know the continents move?
Our speaker will discuss the effects of greenhouse gases made and released by human beings and which of these are the most significant in accounting for current climate change on Earth.
All will be revealed without the use of a single equation and in plain language so we can at last – understand. Don’t miss this important presentation.
November Forum
The normal day for our Four O’clock Forums is the last Wednesday of the month, but as the last Wednesday of November falls after the end of Term 4, our final Forum for the year 22AAFR08 Life Admin Hacks will be held on Wednesday 23 November.
