October is festival season at the Hub this year with the launch of the Victorian Seniors Festival on Sunday 2 October and the Whitehorse Spring Festival happening on Sunday 23 October.
Across the State
This will be Victoria’s 40th Seniors Festival giving the state the chance to celebrate the important contribution Seniors make in so many different ways. Visit www.seniorsonline.vic.gov.au/festival to find out more.
Free transport
To make the most of what’s on during the festival, holders of Victorian Seniors cards can enjoy eight days of free travel on public transport from 2 – 9 October, including V/Line.
At the Hub
Whitehorse Council will be opening its Seniors Festival on 2 October at the Hub with U3A Nunawading acting as host.
Performances will include various types of cultural dance: Belly, Chinese, Japanese, Greek and Philippine as well as Line dancing. Exercise demonstrations will include Zumba, Leg Strength Training and Tai Chi. There will also be Laughter Yoga to put a smile on your face.
The Silver Grove Swing Band, Jazz Improvisation group, our Choir and the Cantonese Opera class will provide the musical entertainment.
Among the demonstrations and displays inside the Hub will be art with various types of media; calligraphy, knitting, crochet and tatting; patchwork and needlework, card making, bushwalking, geology and chess.
Whitehorse Arts Association and Nunawading and District Lapidary Club will also have displays and demonstrations of their work.
The Rotary Club of Nunwading will be running a sausage sizzle and a coffee cart will also be in attendance.

Spring Festival
The Nunawading Community Hub and its surrounds will again be the centre of activity on Sunday 23 October when Whitehorse holds its first Spring Festival since 2019.
