Hurry up, we are going to be late! How often have you heard this, or said it? We know that saving time is almost as important as saving money. Many of us couldn’t wait for retirement because we thought we would have more time and space to do what we wanted or had neglected: clean out the garage, manage our filing, start on long planned home projects that had been put-off.
We wanted to order our lives, get fit, read more – only find to ourselves busier than ever. We help our families babysitting, cook them dinners, take them and others to appointments, we plan holidays, volunteer, sit on committees and administer our daily lives, electronically.
‘Where does time go?’ More importantly are you satisfied with how you are administering your life?
I came across a book called “Life Admin Hacks” by Mia Northrop and Dinah Rowe-Roberts. I was unsure what was meant by ‘Hacks’. Google told me “It is any trick, shortcut or skill or novelty method that increases productivity and efficiency, in all walks of life.” I took the bait and bought the book, read it and then asked Dinah Rowe-Roberts to come and share her wisdom and life experience with us.
Dinah is Executive Director of Philanthropy Australia. She has extensive commercial and strategic experience having previously held senior roles with PwC, Australian Unity and the Department of Health (UK). She also has undertaken professional training in innovation, lean start-up and design thinking which provides expertise in process and system design.
PS – I have culled my garage.
