Snippets

December Snippets includes the U3A festive activities at the Hub; two of our intrepid walking groups; details regarding the Whitehorse Carols and Summer School Holiday program and a special Aqualink offer for new members.

Christmas Hub festivities

There were smiles and laughter and a delicious array of food as many groups celebrated the end of a busy and joyous year with classes back in full swing at the Hub throughout 2022.

The photo gallery highlights the fun had by all.

Christmas Workshops add fun

Four Christmas Workshops were held over the past two weeks. There were two Handmade Christmas Card workshops, a Christmas Gnomes Workshop and a Paper Christmas Decorations Workshop.

Year ends on a high note

The Hub was humming with a musical extravaganza presented by the Choir, Swing Band and Progressive Guitar Group on Tuesday 29 November in Studio 2.

Thank you to all the members who gave a fantastic performance enjoyed by an enthusiastic crowd.

Stoic Nordic walkers carry on

By Kathy Leitch, Nordic Walking Group Leader

Intrepid Nordic walkers braved the weather at Lysterfield Lake on 15 November and tested whether our waterproof boots were actually waterproof!

Happy wanderings

Ann Janssen’s Walking group followed the fast-flowing Merri Creek through Coburg, then made their way to Brunswick and the Ceres Environmental Park on 15 November.

Lucky there was no rain to spoil the fun and chatter enjoyed along the 7km journey. This was the 10th memorable walk by the group that has covered areas of interest across Melbourne during 2022.

Jingle your bells and fasten your antlers

Whitehorse Carols is serving up a feast of festivities for the family this Christmas at Tunstall Park (rear of Nunawading Community Hub) on Sunday 18 December from 4.30pm to 9.30pm. The concert starts at 5.30pm and includes the supremely soulful Kylie Auldist, the Melbourne Gospel Choir, Stellar, the Box Hill City Band, Whitehorse Churches Care, Little Notes and the kids’ entertainment act, Celia & Friends. Also, keep a look out for Santa, rides, festivities, and food trucks at the park.

Admission is free and the concert is AUSLAN interpreted, with a dedicated viewing area and interpreters on the big screen throughout the show. Please note parking will be limited. For more information go to https://www.whitehorse.vic.gov.au/whitehorse-carols
