The Four o’clock Forums continue to attract strong interest for their varied topics and inspiring guest speakers. Below is the list of forums coming up in the next few months; there is still space available for the March and May sessions. Please enrol online or at the Reception Desk.
Dr. Jane Wenlock: Wednesday 29 March, Studio 2 at 4 pm
Dr Jane Wenlock, a Doctor of Education, will share her research on the migrant Chaldean community to illustrate how equity and justice for all in education is so important. Chaldeans are Aramaic-speaking, Eastern Rite Catholics. They have a history that spans more than 5,500 years dating back to Mesopotamia, known as the cradle of civilization and is present-day Iraq.
Members who are grandparents who help with homework, socialising, cultural and language differences, or those who have migrated and know how hard it is to learn another language and fit in to a new school community will appreciate Dr Jane Wenlock’s presentation and her insights.
Graeme Quinlan: Wednesday 26 April, Studio 2 at 4 pm
Not surprisingly, our April Forum on Retirement and Aged Care has proved to be very popular and now has a long waitlist.
William Smith: Wednesday 31 May, Studio 2 at 4 pm
William Smith is from the Melbourne School of Philosophy and claims to “look at life through a different lens”. He will start with Socrates’ premise: “Philosophy begins in wonder”. This will be a banquet of ‘food for thought’.
