A warm welcome to all members returning from the term and Easter break. I do hope that many of you were able to catch up with family and friends and enjoy your break from U3A.
Congratulations to members who have managed to get into their preferred classes for Term 2 and thank you to Elsie and Ken who worked extremely hard over the break to facilitate this.
Marlene Fernandes and her Member Liaison Sub-Committee entertained approximately 80 new members at two morning teas in the last week of term with Elsie and me giving a brief overview of how U3A Nunawading works. The atmosphere was great, and I am sure that the members who attended appreciated the event. Hopefully, this will be the first of many such events. Congratulations, Marlene!
The Social Committee also hosted two Coffee and Hot Cross Bun morning teas in the last week of term and, by the number of attendees, they were much appreciated by members. Congratulations to the Social Committee members and those co-opted on the days of the morning teas which were a great success.
The Social Committee are working towards another Christmas in July function during the Term 2 break on Tuesday 4 July. See Snippets for more information.
Parking update
Whitehorse Council has advised that parking officers are patrolling the Hub carparks and Esdale Street and members should be aware of the following:
- Tyres will be chalked so you will need to drive out of the carpark not just move to another vacant parking bay.
- If you have a disabled sticker, check that it is valid and displayed clearly on your dashboard.
- Do not park in any of the permit parking bays if you do not have a Hub parking permit. If you do have one, it must be displayed whenever you park at the Hub.
- If you do receive a parking fine, U3A cannot intervene on your behalf.
Until next time,
Gary
