If you are looking for a class to join in Term 3 at Nunawading U3A, there are places in my science class – Curious about Science of Air and Water.

In Terms 1 and 2, we concentrated on the molecules which make up the air we breathe every day, and we explored some of the surprising effects of air pressure.

What’s happening for Term 3

In Term 3, we turn our attention to water which, despite being very familiar, is actually a very unusual substance. Before we delve into the question of what makes it so unusual, we need to know a bit about atoms and chemical bonding. We begin with that at the start of this term, which makes this a good time to join the class.

Your invitation to ask lots of questions

If science at school left you confused or uninterested, this is your invitation to what I hope will be a different experience. Or, if you would just like to learn more about the basics of chemistry, bring your questions. There is no such thing as a dumb question in my classes, though there is no guarantee I will know all the answers.

Here are some comments from those presently in the class:

  • An enjoyable and interesting class about aspects of science which are my everyday occurrences, that one hasn’t really thought about.
  • Interesting! You’re never too old to learn! Hands-on experiments about the topic covered. I enjoy the class.
  • A most interesting class that is not too scientific. It is well presented, understandable and interesting, so come along and enjoy!
