Welcome back to all members after our term break, I do hope that you had the opportunity to catch up with family and friends, enjoy the footy finals, or better still get away from Melbourne for a short break.

U3A Network Victoria Annual General Meeting

On 3 October, I attended the AGM of Network Victoria and I am pleased to report that two of our tutors, Helen Smith and Paulina Chong were honoured with Tutor Excellence Awards. These awards recognise tutors from U3As in Victoria who have given their local U3A dedicated and excellent service in educating their members over a long period of time. On behalf of all members at Nunawading, I congratulate both Helen and Paulina on receiving this well-earned award.

Whitehorse Seniors Festival

Nunawading U3A hosted the grand opening of the Whitehorse Seniors Festival on Sunday 6 October at the Hub for the enjoyment of members and the local community. The day was full of entertainment including demonstrations and performances by Tai Chi, Belly dancing, Line dancing, Chinese dancing, Rock and Roll, the Nunawading U3A Choir, our Silver Grove Swing Band, Guitar Group and a Ukulele jam session. There were also art and craft displays as well as chess.

As usual, these days take a power of organising, so congratulations to Paulina Chong and her events team, members of the committee, volunteers, Lisa Williams from Whitehorse Positive Ageing, and Craig Pearcey from City of Whitehorse for their work in making the day a huge success.

Melbourne Cup Eve

On Monday 4 November (no classes this day), the Social Committee is running a Melbourne Cup function at the Hub. You can dress up for Fashions on the Field; hopefully get lucky with sweeps in our Phantom Cup call; enjoy a glass of bubbly on arrival; and receive a free bet on the Cup. All the details are available at reception or on the big screen downstairs and in the article in this newsletter. Make up a table or just book yourself in and come along for a fun afternoon.

Enrolments for 2025

Enrolments for 2025 commence on Monday 25 November for our current members. Be sure to read the Key information for 2025 enrolments in this newsletter for all the information you need.

Until next time…
Gary
