We’re all aware of scams, but still people get caught out – the money lost to scams by Australians in 2022 was over $3 billion!
We need to be on the lookout for scams, but there are some other basic security steps we should take as well. In the four-week Basic Online Safety course you will not only hear about how to take these basic steps, you’ll put them into practice.
We’ll talk about the risks and how you can reduce them, the tools and settings that can make it easier to stay safe, and help you be more confident to handle your online tasks safely.
This course will help you be more secure, whether you connect online using a phone, a tablet, or a computer. Bring your device with you so you can make any changes needed on the spot.
Know a bit about phones, tablets, or computers?
If you already know quite a bit about digital technology, are you able to share your knowledge with other members?
We have members looking for one-on-one help with their phones or computers. If you can spare an hour or two a week to help, we’d love to hear from you. If you also speak a language other than English, that would be a bonus as members who are still learning English find large classes hard to follow.
If you can help, please email and we can connect you with a suitable learner.
“Appy” hour
A reminder that technical help is available every Tuesday 12.30 to 1.30 pm near the library. Bring your device and your questions, no booking necessary.
