Christmas Workshops produce little treasures

Members who attended our three inaugural Christmas Workshops were delighted with their efforts at the end of their two sessions.

In Kitty Wong’s Christmas Paper Craft workshop (see image above) participants made delicate paper Christmas decorations by folding and cutting paper with simple tools. Anyone visiting the Hub in recent weeks will have seen the beautiful decorations on our U3A Christmas tree made by members of Kitty’s regular Paper Craft class.

Recycling and re-use were the themes of the Make your own Christmas Cards workshop run by Jasmine Teen. Participants cut up old cards and recombined the images in creative ways to make personal one-off cards for family and friends. The group also made snowflakes out of old paper towel rolls and decorative holders for cutlery and napkins.

The third of our Christmas workshops was Christmas Stitching run by Leonie Clyne. Over the two sessions members completed some quick Christmas stitching projects that could be made up into treasured gifts for loved ones.

Feedback from participants in all three workshops was most enthusiastic so we shall probably see more workshops being offered in the lead-up to next Christmas.
