Introducing Mark Balla Guest Speaker at our April Four O’clock Forum
This TED Talker has led an extraordinary life but on a trip to India Mark made an unexpected discovery that was to turn his understanding of our world upside down. He was so shaken by what he learned that he felt unable to simply walk away.
Mark has been an entrepreneurial businessman, a travel writer for Lonely Planet, a past President of his local Rotary Club of Box Hill Central, a cycling enthusiast, a published author, and an inspirational speaker, but for Mark, the most amazing life transformation came during a business trip to India.

When confronted by a major issue with global implications, most of us are likely to feel powerless, and comment, “What can I do? I’m only one person.” Mark Balla decided that such a response to the situation in which he found himself, would be unacceptable. Rather than sit on the sidelines, Mark took decisive action and became involved. As a result, his inner humanitarian was awakened and the lives of tens of thousands of underprivileged children in India have since been changed for the better.
Mark’s highly inspiring, witty, cleverly narrated book, Toilet Warrior, tells the story of that awakening and its impact on the lives of some of the most underprivileged people in the world.
We are privileged to have Mark Balla as a guest speaker at our Four O’clock Forum on Wednesday 27 April. You can enrol in 22AAFR03 online or fill out an Orange Form at the Reception Desk.
