Finally, after a long wait, the new Nunawading Community Hub is opening in January!
On Tuesday 8 December half of our Committee of Management had their first official tour of the new Hub, and on Thursday 10 December, we began moving in. Pictured above are some of the Committee taking a well-earned break from unpacking.
The remainder of our Committee and our Class Leaders will be taken on their familiarisation tours this week.
Due to Covid restrictions numbers allowed into the Hub at present are strictly limited and you cannot enter without an appointment. The first opportunity U3A members will have of visiting the Hub will be when they attend Summer School classes.
During my tour, I kept trying to see the facilities through your eyes and wondered how you would feel the first time you see it.
It is a huge contrast to Silver Grove, but I am sure you will soon feel at home in our beautiful new environment. We are, after all, the same people who created a welcoming and friendly atmosphere at Silver Grove, and we can and will do it again in our new home. It may just take a couple of visits for everyone to adjust.
If you haven’t done so already, you can learn more about the Hub and prepare for your first visit by reading this Quick Start Guide.
You will be heartened to know that we have been able to accommodate all our important historic records and precious items, though for now they are stored out of sight rather than on display.
On behalf of the Committee of Management, I wish you all the joys of the Festive Season. I am sure that we will count our blessings and appreciate everything more than ever including many things we once took for granted.
There is more information about 2021 courses and Summer School in the next article, so please read on.
See you at the new Hub in 2021 for the next exciting stage in the life of U3A Nunawading.
