Season’s Greetings to you all

What an exciting year we have witnessed at U3A Nunawading in 2022, the first without interruption from COVID-19 lockdowns for three years, and a year where we have seen continued growth in membership. During 2022, we have grown to over 2,200 members.

We have just finished our first two weeks of enrolment for 2023 and, judging by the number of new members joining, it will not be long before we pass this year’s membership figure. While it is great to see continued growth as more retirees discover U3A, it creates a huge workload for our volunteers, especially our Course Admin team, and I ask you to show patience as they work through the waitlists to satisfy as many members as possible with their class preferences.

Our great volunteers

What a great job all of our volunteers have done in 2022, from our Reception Desk Volunteers, Social Committee, Summer School Committee, various Sub committees and especially our hard working Committee of Management. To all of you I say a huge Thank You.

Along with many members, I attended a Concert at the Hub on 29 November where we were superbly entertained by our Silver Grove Swing band, our Guitar Group and our Choir. It amazes me that we have so much talent among our membership.

On 6 December, I attended the Reception Desk Volunteers Morning Tea and the following day, the Leaders Lunch. Both were great functions where we could show our appreciation to our wonderful Volunteers.

Looking to next year

While 2022 is fast coming to an end, we are fortunate to have a great Summer School to look forward to in January, as well as a wonderful program of classes beginning in February 2023.

I wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas and a happy and safe New Year, and look forward to catching up in 2023.

Until next time,
Gary
