Welcome back to all members after our term break. I do hope that you had the opportunity to catch up with family and friends, enjoy the footy finals, or better still, get away from Melbourne for a short break.
U3A Network Victoria Annual General Meeting
On 17 September, I attended the AGM of Network Victoria, and I can report that there are now over 40,000 members of U3A in Victoria.
I am also pleased to report that one of our Class Leaders, Maria Ryan was honoured with a Tutor Recognition Award and Andrew Lockwood received a Network Distinguished Service Award at a presentation the day before the AGM. Congratulations to both of you for these well-deserved awards.
Whitehorse Seniors Festival Grand Opening Extravaganza &
U3A Nunawading 35th Birthday Celebration
On Wednesday 1 October, Nunawading U3A hosted the Grand Opening of Whitehorse Seniors Festival here at the Hub for the enjoyment of members and the local community.
The day was full of entertainment including Tai Chi, Belly dancing, Line dancing, Chinese dancing, Rock and Roll, Nunawading U3A Choir, our Silver Grove Swing Band, Guitar Group and a Ukulele Jam session. There were also some fabulous Art and Craft displays as well. We were honoured to have our Deputy Mayor Prue Cutts officially open the Extravaganza and cut our 35th birthday cake.
As usual, these days take a power of organising so congratulations to Paulina Chong and her events team, members of the Committee, volunteers, Lisa Williams from Whitehorse Positive Ageing and Craig Pearcey and Callum Garvin from City of Whitehorse for their work in helping to make the day a huge success.
Whitehorse Spring Festival
Spring Festival will return on Sunday 19 October from 10 am until 4 pm at the Whitehorse Civic Precinct and The Round where many of our classes will be performing. Come along and support these talented U3A members.
Enrolments for 2026
Enrolments for 2026 commence on Monday 24 November for our current members.
