We share some happy snaps of members in our French and fishing classes and two leaders celebrating milestone birthdays, plus there is plenty to see and do locally with an open weekend at Heathmont’s nature reserves, family fun during Heritage Week, an interesting art exhibition and a Mega Zumba Neon Party.
French National Day lunch

By Brigitte Ciurleo, class leader
In July, 34 students from U3A’s French 1, 3 and 4A classes attended a delicious lunch at Le Voltaire in Belgrave. We enjoyed a fabulous two-course meal with wine and delightful conversation. French colours were worn proudly and we gave a good rendition of La Marseillaise at the end of the meal. See all the photos here.
Great catch!

By Mike Davies, class leader
The Fishing for Fun class recently went fishing one Tuesday night, and an unspecified number of fish were caught at a top-secret location along Melbourne’s most famous river. The kookaburras and members all had a great time!
Leaders celebrate birthday milestones

Long-time U3A member Karen (Kaz) Postill had her 80th birthday in late July and one of her exercise classes had a morning tea with cake and candles to celebrate. Kaz runs two exercises classes normally, but has taken on Barb Ryder’s class as well as Barb has hurt her ankle.

Val Lynch, who is the class leader for Western Mah Jong, also recently celebrated her 90th birthday with her class.
Many happy returns Kaz and Val!
