Golden glory
Congratulations to U3A Nunawading member Owen Combie and his buddy, Pam, who both won gold medals for the 70+ class at the recent Pan Pacific Masters Games on the Gold Coast. Owen won in the one metre springboard and Pam in the three metres springboard, thus defending their positions from the previous event two years earlier.
End-of-year breakups
Many classes enjoyed a final get-together with their U3A colleagues to sign-off a great year of friendship, learning and laughter. The EAL Advanced class captured their happy gathering with a photo, and there have been plenty of group photos shared on U3A Nunawading’s Facebook group.
Christmas workshops wrap-up
In late November, the three Christmas workshops covering Christmas decorations, book folding and paper craft were enjoyed by enthusiastic members who came along to learn a new skill in great company. Everyone got to take home their completed Christmas items and felt a great sense of achievement.
Save on car hire
Avis and Budget are offering members of U3A Nunawading a 10 percent discount when booking a hire car. Members interested in taking up this offer need to contact the Course Administrator via to get the booking instructions for each car hire company. At that time, they will be given the code that enables the discount to be applied. A credit card is required when picking up the car. This offer is available from November 2024.
Where is my coffee opens
The new café on level two of the Hub is now open for business. Called ‘Where Is My Coffee’, the social enterprise café is operated by Villa Maria Catholic Homes and helps people with a disability gain valuable training and employment skills.
