Members of the Committee of Management were delighted to host our wonderful Reception Desk Volunteers for an end-of-year ‘Thank you’ morning tea in Studio 2 last week.
Our volunteers were seated at ‘team tables’ so they could socialise with the others on their roster, many of whom they never normally meet because they are on duty on different weeks of the month. See the gallery of photos from the event.
Congratulations from the Deputy Mayor
Also in attendance were our Ward Councillor Denise Massoud and Deputy Mayor Cr Prue Cutts who addressed the gathering on the value to our community of volunteering and the important role volunteers played at U3A. Cr Cutts also congratulated U3A Nunawading as an organisation for the wonderful service it provides to our seniors.
About our Reception Desk Volunteers
We have approximately 80 volunteers who work on the Reception Desk for half a day each month and they perform one of the most important volunteer roles at our U3A. They are the friendly faces that greet members as they enter the Hub, they are the welcoming voices on the telephone when members call, they process members’ payments, answer a myriad of questions, accept apologies and chat with members as they go to their class.
Being a Reception Desk Volunteer is also a wonderful way to gain a better understanding of how our U3A operates, to feel you are contributing to our organisation and to make new friends.
If you feel that you could be such a person, please let us know at Reception and our Reception Desk Volunteer Co-ordinator and Vice President Athalie Edis will contact you in the new year.
