It can be frustrating being on a waitlist and keen to join a class. Here is some information that should help you understand how enrolments and waitlists work. Key points – be patient and courteous and read your emails carefully.
Please be patient and courteous
If you are on a waitlist please do not go to the class and harass the leader, and do not come to the Course Admin office and harass the person on duty there.
If a place becomes available, you will receive an email advising you. Don’t ask where you are placed on the waitlist – there is no order for accepting a member from the waitlist. We look at each member on the waitlist and the person who has the least number of classes in the subject area will be accepted before the person who has a number of classes. For example, if a place becomes available in a Yoga class, and you are on the waitlist, PLUS you are already in a Yoga class you will not be accepted.
Do not add your name to a class list
The only people authorised to add a name to the class list are the Leader, or a member of the Course Admin team. Do not go to a class unless you have been accepted as it is embarrassing for you if you are turned away.
Read confirmation emails carefully
When you enrol yourself in a class, you will receive an automated email confirming you have enrolled in the class. Please note whether you are on a waitlist. This should be clear from the course description when you book in, but also your confirmation email will show:
Status: waitlisted.
If Course Admin has enrolled you, the emails look a little different.
If you are on the waitlist (rather than accepted), the email will state “Waitlisted for “…followed by the course name.

Make sure you read the whole email not just the first part.
Website information relating to classes
If you go to the website and search for a class, you will see one of the following messages at the bottom of the class description:
| If the message is | This means |
|---|---|
| Accepting enrolments? Yes | There is a space in this class |
| Accepting enrolments? Yes: Waitlist only | You MAY receive a place in the class at a future date |
| Accepting enrolments? No: Course is closed to enrolments | You cannot enrol at all. |
