As the year winds to a close, it is the season for celebrations. In this edition we celebrate a COTA Victorian Senior Achiever Award for Ken Briscoe and note the fun we had in celebrating the Melbourne Cup.
2024 Victorian Senior of the Year Awards
On Thursday 24 October, I along with Elsie attended the 2024 Victorian Senior of the Year Awards at Government House where Ken Briscoe was one of ten older Victorians honoured with a COTA Victorian Senior Achiever Award. Ken was also supported by family and friends on this very special occasion and on behalf of all members at U3A Nunawading, I say congratulations Ken on a well-deserved award.
Melbourne Cup Eve
On Monday 4 November, the Social Committee held a fabulous Melbourne Cup function at the Hub. On arrival, members were offered a glass of bubbly and were given a free win bet on the Melbourne Cup. Members dressed up in spectacular outfits for Fashions on the Field and several punters got lucky by having a win in the Cup sweep based on our Phantom Cup call. Afternoon tea was served and all those attending had a great day in a very happy social atmosphere.
