As the year winds to a close, it is the season for celebrations. In this edition we celebrate a COTA Victorian Senior Achiever Award for Ken Briscoe and note the fun we had in celebrating the Melbourne Cup.

The Hub is buzzing with classes celebrating the end-of-year, and enjoying the many friendships made. In this report, we’ve got some Christmas updates to share, and some important enrolling tips as we get ready for another exciting year at U3A in 2025. Be sure to read the ‘Get Ready to Enrol’ article in this newsletter to prepare for enrolling in next year’s classes. Christmas decoration classes.
Now that the Course Guides are available, you can get ready for enrolment week. Enrolment opens at 9 am on 25 November for returning members. New members can enrol in the same way from Wednesday 27 November. Please read the hints and instructions on how to enrol.
The festival fun continues with the Whitehorse Spring Festival this coming Sunday 17 November at the Whitehorse Civic Centre Precinct.
Spring Festival commences at 10 am and runs through to 4 pm. We have art displays in The Round and performances from ten of our groups as well as a stall for information about U3A Nunawading. See the list of U3A performances, including a map to help you find us.
The Summer School Course Guide is now available. Collect a printed copy from Reception, or download a copy and check out the range of interesting classes and excursions available.
Start each day of Summer School with Tai Chi on the lawn, then attend a range of classes including history, art, craft, cooking demonstrations, health tips, music, movies and more!
A reminder the U3A End-of-Year concert is on Tuesday 26 November.
The concert will take place in Studios 1 & 2, commencing at 10 am with a short break at 12:35 pm. The afternoon session will commence at 1 pm.
Were you lucky enough to join in the Melbourne Cup Eve event? With lots of excitement in the room, the members present really took to, and enjoyed, the spirit of the event.
Ample food was provided along with champagne on arrival, and chocolates, sweet treats, and coffee and tea were served during the afternoon. Nobody went home hungry. Entry to the event included a betting ticket for the actual Cup run, with two people winning around $200 each.
