Were you lucky enough to join in the Melbourne Cup Eve event? With lots of excitement in the room, the members present really took to, and enjoyed, the spirit of the event.
Ample food was provided along with champagne on arrival, and chocolates, sweet treats, and coffee and tea were served during the afternoon. Nobody went home hungry. Entry to the event included a betting ticket for the actual Cup run, with two people winning around $200 each.
Fun Fashions on the Field
People who came got into the spirit of dressing up for Fashions on the Field. Both men and women outdid each other to win the prizes in their respective categories. A major hamper supplied by Michael Sukkar, Federal Member for Deakin, was the great prize for the ladies’ winner. See the Photo Gallery for some of the wonderful outfits.
Sweeps, a raffle and prizes
The sweep proved to be very popular, with lots of competition around who had the best horses on the day. Several winners and runners-up were very happy with the results of the sweep.
There was also a special raffle prize – a once-off exclusive lunch at Parliament House with Nick McGowan, State Upper House member for North-Eastern Region.
A great time was had by all
There were many prize winners on the day, but everybody who attended was a winner because we all had a great time. Many people asked as they left “Are we doing it again next year?”
