Now that Term 1 is well underway and things are settling down, we have some information to make your time at U3A easier. Please take note of the information on name badges and car parking in particular and the waitlist information in the next article.

It is disappointing that some members have shown aggression to fellow members – this is not acceptable and not what we are used to in our U3A. If you are unhappy with anything please make an appointment with either the Course Administrator or a member of the Committee of Management to discuss constructively.

Some information to make your time at U3A easier

Name badges

  • You must wear your name badge once you enter the Hub.
  • If you do not have your name badge on and you are attending a class, you may be asked to leave the class.
  • Several of you have queried why it is so important to wear your badge. The answer has never changed – it is for your benefit in case you have an accident, you are unconscious and we do not know who you are etc.
In some instances we have had a member who has had a fall and with the shock of the fall they cannot remember their name or what class they may have been in. It also confirms to us that you are a valued member of U3A attending the Hub.
  • Your current member number stays with you while you are an active member of U3A Nunawading.

Car parking

We are all aware that there is confusion with the new directional markings in the Esdale Street car park.

We have requested that a member of the City of Whitehorse Transport Team come and discuss with us the challenges we are experiencing. You may have seen them in the car park in the week of 3 March observing.

Thank you to the members who are finding alternative spaces in the area during our busy times and reducing the load on the car park.

You will be updated on the result of our discussions.

Doors to the Hub

If you are parking in any of the streets that lead into Tunstall Park, you will find the doors that lead into the kitchen area are now open.

If you park in Esdale Street, try not to walk through the car park. Come up the path that leads around the oval and come through these doors.

Aggression to fellow members

Recently some of our members have become very aggressive regarding the car park, not enough chairs in the rooms for their class, members arriving late or leaving early for a class causing disruption to the class and rudeness to the leader.

This is not acceptable behaviour and not what we are used to in our U3A. If you are unhappy with anything to do with your enrolment or another matter, please make an appointment with either the Course Administrator or a member of the Committee of Management who are on duty from 9 to 4 Monday to Friday.

Chairs

You will be pleased to know U3A have ordered another 150 chairs, this should mean that there will always be sufficient chairs in the rooms without you needing to go searching or moving chairs between rooms.
