New road markings in the Esdale St carpark

Welcome to Term 3! Hopefully all the nasty bugs we were experiencing in Term 2 disappeared during the three-week break. In this article we give advance notice on enrolment dates for 2026, some reminders on how to be a good U3A citizen, some free German resources and a new class for Term 4.

Enrolment dates for 2026

A number of you have been enquiring about enrolment dates for 2026. The dates are now up on our website. Enrolment for:

  • existing members commences Monday 24 November 2025
  • new members commences Wednesday 26 November 2025.

More information will be available in future newsletters.

A few reminders – be a good U3A citizen

  • If you feel unwell, please stay home and try not to spread any germs.
  • Make sure you continue to wear your name badge whilst you are at the Hub and in classes.
  • Turn your mobile off or to silent once you enter the classroom. Respect your fellow classmates – mobile calls are very disruptive to the class.
  • Take care when parking in the car park, follow the markings on the road. See our feature image for some of the new markings.
  • Apologies; if you wish to make an apology you can do so in any of these three ways:
    1. via the website,
    2. ring the office,
    3. put it on the attendance sheet.
Please only make one method of apology.

Free to a good home

  • German dictionary,
  • German Scrabble game,
  • German Trivial Pursuit,
  • Other German language textbooks and novels.

We are trying to remove any items that are no longer of use to us. If you are interested in any of the above, please see a member of the Course Admin team.

New class Term 4

25HUMS01: Speeches that inspired the World. Leader Liz Hooper. Thursday 2.15 – 3.15 Studio 4

In this short course, we will consider speeches throughout the ages that have inspired the world. We will reflect on how they may have influenced people at the time. We will also discuss their relevance to the state of the world today.

This is a discussion format in which people are asked to come prepared to participate with an open mind and a willingness to listen to others’ perspectives. Please bring your ideas on speeches that have inspired you.
