A recent report [see footnote] produced by Gerard Mansour, Commissioner for Senior Victorians, has highlighted the key attributes of ageing well, including respect, financial and personal security, health, autonomy, and mobility. Loneliness was consistently cited as a major issue of concern for many seniors with over 40% feeling that they lacked friendship and company.
In our own survey conducted in November 2020, our members said that U3A Nunawading provided many benefits including intellectual stimulation, an opportunity to develop new skills, staying fit and active, but most of all, we valued the friendship, and social interaction.
Given these benefits, we know how important U3A is to all of us, and how disappointed we are when classes have to be cancelled due to COVID-19. As Victoria emerges from our most recent lockdown, we look forward to getting back together again at the beginning of Term 3 on 12 July.
Half-Year Fees
In line with our usual practice your Committee of Management has approved a reduced fee for members joining from the beginning of Term 3 onwards. New members and returning members from last year will pay $35.
