In this update there are a number of important member notifications, details about class vacancies for next term, hints on making sure we can contact you and a volunteer opportunity to join the Admin team.

Car parking

We all know that the car park does not have enough spaces for the number of members attending classes at different times of the day. Please think about where else you can park with just a short walk to the Hub. A few suggestions:

  • Sandy Street and walk through Tunstall Park.
  • Luckie Street, no restrictions on one side.
  • Alternatively, park across the road from the Hub in Tunstall Ave or O’Shannessy Street, then cross with the lights outside the Hub in Springvale Road.

Please also make sure you do not park in a handicapped marked spot or permit spot – you will be booked! The car park off Springvale Road is a permit only zone. You will be booked if you park there and don’t have a permit card on your dashboard.

Ten pin bowling

In the last newsletter we asked for anyone who may be interested to send an email to so far, we have six members interested but to make it viable we need at least 10. It would be late Monday mornings at Forest Hill Chase and the cost would be $12 to $15 for two games per week. If you are interested but forgot to let us know, this is your last opportunity.

Name badges

A number of members are not wearing their name badge whilst at U3A. It is no good to anyone if you happened to have an accident in the building and your badge is in the car. Also make sure you have your emergency details completed on the back of your badge.

Emails

When you receive an email from a member of the Course Admin team it would be appreciated if you could answer it straight away. Please continually look at your spam/junk/promotion’s inbox.

Are you using Gmail and finding our emails go to your Promotions folder? Here’s how to turn off the Promotions folder:

You can find these instructions and more in the How to section of our website.

Contact

Due to the huge volume of spam calls, most of us do not accept calls from an unknown number. Please add U3A’s phone number (03) 9878 3898 as a contact on your mobile.

The Course Admin team (Elsie, Ken, Skip) is looking for extra volunteers. If you have an interest in volunteering in this area and believe you have the necessary skills such as good computer skills; can work in a team; and have good communication skills please send an email to or tick the box 23AAVOL4 in the enrolments section of your online login.
