There are more places than ever before to get your COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccines are safe, effective and free.
Getting the COVID-19 vaccine reduces your risk of getting sick with COVID-19 and protects you against becoming very sick if you do get COVID-19. It helps to protect your friends, family and community. If most people are vaccinated, the virus can’t spread as easily. This also protects people who can’t get vaccinated

How quickly things can change!

On Monday 12 July I was listening to members enthusing about how wonderful it was to be back at classes again after a lengthy break, and how much they enjoyed the intellectual stimulation and the social connection that our classes offer.  Just four days later, we were back in lockdown.  Let’s hope that we can get on top of this latest outbreak soon.

On a positive note, it is pleasing to know that so many of our members are vaccinated…

Performers’ plea to get vaccinated

Your Committee of Management fully endorses the government’s recommendation that everyone who is eligible should be vaccinated if we wish to return to ‘normal’ life.

Many of you have already had both of your vaccinations and may already have seen this this video, but it is such an important message we are playing our part in promoting vaccination by sharing it again.

U3A plays vital role in ageing well!

A recent report produced by Gerard Mansour, Commissioner for Senior Victorians, has highlighted the key attributes of ageing well, including respect, financial and personal security, health, autonomy, and mobility. Loneliness was consistently cited as a major issue of concern for many seniors with over 40% feeling that they lacked friendship and company.

It is fortunate that some classes not held in the Hub have been able to continue during the most recent COVID-19 lockdown. The walking groups have been out and about but always mindful of the most important issue – where they might have coffee!

The bushwalkers needed to modify their walk to stay within the 5km rule while some of the others split into two groups to fit in with COVID restrictions…
