The two raffle quilts provided by the Patchwork 2 class

The Course Admin team hopes you have all enjoyed your U3A classes this year. Enrolment information for 2024 is in the body of this newsletter and available on the website.

Please wear your name badge to enrol

Remember, if you are coming in to do a face-to-face enrolment, you need to wear your name badge which will have your membership number on it. This will help speed up your enrolment process.

Don’t stress if you are on a waitlist

Enrolment time can sometimes cause anxiety if you do not get into the classes you want at enrolment time.

Please do not worry as the Course Admin team works on trying to make sure, where possible, everyone gets into at least one of their popular selections. You will find that some classes are marked as a zero and everyone enrolling in these classes is placed on a waitlist. This is because the leader needs to make sure that you are at the correct level for this class. You will receive an email advising when you have been accepted.

Thank you to class leaders

Thank you to all our leaders for giving their time and sharing their knowledge in 2023. I know our members really appreciate the preparation and presentation you do to make your classes not only interesting, but also enjoyable.

Garden volunteer needed

After three years of getting the Community Garden established, Gabrielle has decided to retire. We now need a volunteer to lead other volunteers to help maintain our great garden.

If you are interested in being a leader of this group or volunteering as a helper and would like to know more, please contact . Gabrielle is happy to do a handover.

Raffle

In 2022, the Patchwork 2 class made and donated two quilts to be raffled for charity (see our feature image). They have repeated this gesture again, and the tickets are on sale in class or from the reception desk. They are on display in the walkway near the reception desk. The raffle will be drawn at the concert on Tuesday 28 November.

Musical concert and dance experience

Some of our musicians and dancers are holding a concert on Tuesday 28 November. The concert will commence at 10 am and finish around 1 pm. The dance experience will be held from 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm. These events will be held in Studios 1 and 2. There will be performances from The Swing Band, Choir, and Guitar and Ukulele classes, with a grand finale of a combined performance.

In the afternoon, you are invited to come and have a dance experience which includes Walking Qigong, Laughing Yoga, Rock & Roll and Zumba.

No need to book, just turn up and enjoy.

Christmas comes early to the Hub

Once again, the Paper craft class has made the decorations for our Christmas tree located on level 1 of the hub. Take the time to have a look at the beautiful works of this class. Thank you to Kitty and the class for sharing their work.

U3A end-of-year get-togethers

In the last week of term, many leaders have asked to book the kitchen area to have break-up functions. The leaders have been advised that we cannot book this space as it is a public area. However, you can still use it to celebrate, but please remember to respect your fellow members when there is more than one group in the area. There may also be a shortage of tables etc. If it is a nice day, remember you can go outside.
