From the Course Admin team

It was great to see the hard work the performers put in come to fruition on Thursday 1 October at the Seniors Festival launch. Everyone enjoyed the performances and the Art and Craft displays. Congratulations all!

Our popular Christmas workshops and Christmas Concert return again this year, plus we have some tips on absences and withdrawals using Member Wizard and advance notice of a Member Wizard “facelift”.

Cup Eve classes

A reminder that U3A Nunawading will NOT be closing classes on Cup Eve Monday 2 November. If you are going to be away on this day, please mark it with an A on the attendance sheet.

2026 classes still available

26ARTS13: Digital SLR camera Term 4. Commencing Friday 16 October. 9:15– 11:15 am. Studio 5. Leader: Moses Tan.

The Complete Digital SLR Camera Course. This concise course of 6 lessons is for those who wish to master their Digital SLR (or mirrorless) cameras in order to make great photographs, be it in landscape, portrait or action. You will learn to achieve perfect exposure, control perspective and depth of field. Theory and the best settings for your camera will be explained simply; and practical sessions abound in the classroom. You will also be shown how to optimise your images using free software. (Caveat: each lesson builds on the previous one; my advice, enrol only if you are able to attend all 6 sessions)

Member Wizard absences and withdrawals – Tips

Absences online

If you are trying to enter an absence online, and a date is greyed out and can’t be ticked, it means an absence has already been entered for that class for that date.

Withdrawals

When you request a withdrawal online, the system does not do this automatically. Rather, it sends an email to Course Admin who may take 1 or 2 days to actually process the withdrawal depending on workload. In the meantime, Member Wizard will still show you as enrolled in the class. You will receive a confirmation email from the system once the withdrawal has been completed.

Facelift for Member Wizard

Later this month, Member Wizard plans to upgrade the “look and feel” of the Member Portal (the part of Member Wizard we all use for apologies, enrolments etc). This will make the screens more attractive than the grey look at present and, importantly, clearer to use. The functions still stay the same. Here’s a brief introduction into the new look.

Note these screenshots are taken from a test site and may change before the final implementation.
