I hope you are starting to feel a little more at home at the Hub as we move into Term 2. We will, of course, have Covid restrictions with us for some time but I think we are all adapting to the new way of doing things at U3A very well.
There have been a number of changes to our timetable to get the maximum use of our larger rooms and I appreciate that for a small number of members the new times do not always suit, but we have done the very best we can to accommodate as many members as possible under our Covid class size restrictions.
Paper cranes
In our May 2020 Update I told you about the one thousand cranes made by Jasmine Teen and her U3A Multi-Craft class as a sign of hope and good health for all our members at that strange time. As U3A was closed due to Covid, I brought them home until they could be opened up and displayed.
Happily, last week Jasmine and her class members were able to set aside some time to bring these beautiful paper birds to life by unfolding each individual bird. Pictured are Connie Tang and Jasmine Teen with the opened cranes.
New classes
We have a number of new classes starting this term including Lawn Bowls, Spanish Beginners and Calligraphy – Chinese as well as a Gardening Group. Details of all of these classes are outlined in the next article.
QR codes
Please make every effort to scan the QR code in your classroom once a day. If you attend more than one class you only need to use the code when you arrive for your first class. Marking yourself off the roll is of course mandatory for all classes you attend.
Apologies
Just a reminder that you no longer need to phone or email us if you are only going to miss one class but if you know in advance that you are going to be away, by all means mark your apology on the roll for that future day. However, you do need to put in an apology when you are going to miss two or more classes.
Ringing phones
Please remember to turn off your phone or put it on silent before the commencement of your classes. It is very disruptive to have phones going off during a class both to the Leader and your fellow class members.
Changes to your enrolment
Finally, if you wish to enrol in a new class or remove yourself from an existing class, please do so at the Reception Desk by filling in an orange form rather than coming to the Course Admin office. If there is any issue our volunteers are unable to assist you with they will get help either from the Duty Committee Member or one of us in Course Admin.
