English and Welsh Dancing at Whitehorse Culture Fest

On Sunday 22 March, the historic Strathdon House and Orchard Precinct came alive as part of Whitehorse Council’s 2026 Culture Fest celebration, drawing a vibrant crowd of families of all ages eager to experience the richness of local cultural traditions. The festival offered a diverse program of music, food, interactive activities and cultural performances. Among the highlights was a lively performance by our U3A English, Scottish and Welsh dance group.

The performers took to the main stage in colourful attire. Their presentation showcased a selection of traditional English country dances and spirited Welsh folk dances, each introduced with a brief explanation that gave the audience insight into the social nature of the dances.

The performance concluded with an open invitation for the audience to join in a simple, inclusive dance on the grass. This proved to be a crowd favourite, as participants of all ages stepped forward to take part, sharing laughter and a sense of connection.
