We celebrated Harmony Day on 20 March 2026 with engaging presentations and a wide range of cultural foods to share. Thanks to Paulina Chong, Kim Tu, Yip Soo and the Social Committee for making the day such a success. See the gallery of photos for an idea of the fun.
Presentations
The Harmony Day presentations began with a perspective on Germany, including an interactive Q&A session with the audience.
This was followed by a Filipino dance, with performers in traditional costumes and beautiful hats. Scottish, English, and Welsh dances were then performed. Both of the dance performances had audience participation, adding fun and engagement into the mix.
The Choir presented Australian songs, followed by the Ukulele Jammers playing popular Aussie medleys.
Thanks to Paulina Chong for organising and managing the presentations. It was a wonderful and enjoyable afternoon celebrating cultural diversity and community.
Food to share
Some U3A members brought a variety of food to share a cultural experience to celebrate Harmony Day.
Among the offerings were Malaysian noodles, Vietnamese dumplings, and Chinese muah chee, (similar to Japanese mochi). Members enjoyed some good old Australian offerings of fairy bread and vegemite sandwiches, and there was a good quantity of fruit to sample.
Social Committee members plated up the food for members and provided tea and coffee.
Special thanks to Kim Tu who helped with preparing the food and to Yip Soo for marshalling work and of course to the Social Committee stalwarts who always put in a very good effort to ensure the event works well.
Bronwyn Hughes.
Social Committee Convenor
