Tell Us Your Lockdown Stories

gardening during lockdown

As we move towards what is termed COVID Normal, it’s time to reflect and celebrate how we coped with ‘life under lockdown’.

From the day we closed the doors at U3A Nunawading on Friday 13 March we have had to learn to live a different way. Instead of attending classes each week we’ve taken up new hobbies or devoted more time to old ones. We’ve gardened, taken up bird watching, walked around the block (keeping to our 5ks) and learned how to use Zoom.

In so many different ways, we have demonstrated during Melbourne’s struggle with the pandemic, that Seniors are resilient and creative and not afraid to learn new skills.

As a permanent record of how our members managed to get through this most ‘unusual’ year, we will be publishing a special edition of our traditional newsletter in December and you are invited to contribute short stories on things you did during lockdown.

Email your submissions to by Tuesday 24 November 2020. Articles should be of no more than 250 words and include at least one photo.
