Dear Members,

I hope that you are feeling more settled in our new home despite COVID restrictions keeping us further apart from one another (1.5 metres!) than we would like to be. When things are going well, it’s easy to forget that we are still in the midst of a pandemic, so all of us need reminding from time to time.
Recognising this, a COVID Safety Monitor is now on duty at all times. You may see one of us peering in to classes to make sure that everyone is following the guidelines. We apologise for any interruption this may have on your classes, and in other areas of the building, and we thank you for your patience. We look forward to a time – hopefully in the near future – to when we can gather together more closely.
Reception desk volunteers
U3A Nunawading has long enjoyed its reputation as a friendly place to be. One of the contributing factors is the excellent service provided by our Reception Desk Volunteers, of whom there are over ninety. These members are rostered on a monthly basis to answer phone calls, direct members to classes, process payments, and act as a first line for enquiries. Ten Team Leaders ensure that backup is provided if a regular volunteer is not available for their scheduled duty.
Coordinating all of these volunteers is our Reception Desk Volunteer Coordinator, Judith Palmer, shown in the photo above with Reception Desk Volunteers Samuel Angstetra and Dee Toa. We thank Judith, Team Leaders and all Reception Desk Volunteers for their contribution to our U3A.
A training/refresher session will be offered at 2pm on Wednesday 7 April in Studios 1 & 2 for all Reception Desk Volunteers. In addition to receiving an update on all procedures, this will be an important networking opportunity.
