Course Administration

Thank you to Class Leaders and Members for your understanding during our first term here at the Hub as we altered class times and rooms to get the best use out of our new home and comply with Covid restrictions.

Welcome to New Class Leaders:

  • Linda Hallowell (ESL)
  • Mory Golshenasrad (Watercolour 2)
  • John Duffield (A History of Cinema)
  • Susanti (Suu) Chee (Balance Exercise).

Mory’s Watercolour 2 class is full because it allowed everyone on the waiting list of Watercolour 1 to be accommodated, however we have spaces in the following classes. Please check our website for details.

  • 21EXEF00: BALANCE EXERCISE starting on Wednesday 21 April at 1.30pm in Meeting Room 2.
  • 21HIS000: A HISTORY OF CINEMA starting on Tuesday 20 April at 2.15pm in Studio 5. Please note this is a short course and only runs for five weeks.
  • 21GAM007: AN INTRODUCTION TO FISHING FOR BEGINNERS, which meets on Fridays from 1pm to 2:30pm in Studio 8. Topics covered include where to fish, how to use different approaches to different fish, knot tying, casting, streamcraft , bait and lure fishing – we are currently discussing a class fishing trip. Our intrepid students are shown above practicing casting – no fish were caught; many trees were! Pictured are Francis, Betty, Archie, Andrew, Ian and David – a special note of thanks for Francis who took the picture.

Suspended Classes

We are still hoping that classes which were suspended in Term 1 due to Covid restrictions, such as Hand & Foot and Contract Bridge and Eastern and Western Mah Jong, will be able to operate in Term 2, so please keep an eye on your email inboxes for advice regarding these classes over the next couple of weeks.

The Ballroom Dance A & B class has now been cancelled as the leaders will not be available in 2021.

Interested in Gardening?

You may have noticed that we have a lovely long raised garden bed with its own watering system as part of the landscaping at the Hub. If you are interested in joining a group of U3A members to establish maybe a herb garden as part of this area, we have a member Gabrielle who is happy to coordinate a team. You can indicate your interest by going to the website and registering. The code is 21AAG: Gardening. Or you can fill in an Orange form available from our Reception Desk.

Reminders

  • Please check your SPAM and Junk folders for emails from U3A.
  • If you are having trouble scanning our QR code, please ask the Reception Desk Volunteers for assistance.
  • Remember to turn off phones when in class.
  • Wear your badge at all times when at U3A or ask for a new one if yours is lost.
  • And finally, please assist your Class Leader if furniture needs to be moved before or after your class. We are all volunteers and many hands make light work.
