President’s Report

Welcome to Term 2. In this issue, I am calling for members to nominate for the Committee of Management for 26/27; taking National Volunteer Week as an opportunity to thank all the wonderful volunteers who make our U3A such a wonderful place; and passing on Parking Regulation Advice from Whitehorse City Council for you to note carefully.

2026 Annual General Meeting

The next Annual General Meeting of U3A Nunawading will be held on Wednesday 19 August here at the Hub. At this meeting all positions on the Committee of Management become vacant and I encourage members to consider nominating for Committee for 26/27. Some members registered their interest on the enrolment form, and we will be contacting them shortly. I know that this is very early notice of our AGM, but it gives members plenty of time to consider if they wish to volunteer. Should you wish to seek further information please email me at : Nomination forms will be available late July.

National Volunteer Week 2026

National Volunteers week 2026 is from 18 to 24 May with the theme “Your Year to Volunteer”, celebrating the contributions of volunteers and encouraging meaningful involvement, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the wonderful volunteers at U3A Nunawading for the time and effort they put in to ensure the smooth running of our U3A. Leaders, Committee of Management, Reception Desk Volunteers and members of our numerous sub-committees total around 400 people.

Car parking in the Esdale Street car park

In recent times a number of our members have received Infringement Notices for overstaying in the Esdale Street car park, so I enclose the following advice as issued by the Whitehorse City Council.

Parking Regulation Advice from Whitehorse City Council Parking Services

The 4P parking signs in the Esdale Street Community Carpark have been installed by our engineering department to ensure all community members have equal opportunities in available parking bays.

Vehicles must be moved out of the bay and the car park after 4 Hours to ensure parking bays are available for all motorists. Motorists are not permitted to park in another bay, they must exit the car park.

When the motorist returns the clock will start again. No vehicles are permitted to stop or park in the No Stopping areas and only authorised vehicles are permitted to park in the Permit bays.

Further advice to Members of U3A

If you receive an infringement notice do not bring it to the attention of our Volunteer staff as there is no one at U3A who can help you as the infringement is between you and the City of Whitehorse. My advice to all members is to obey the signs and you will never have a problem.

Until next time…
Gary
