U3A Nunawading closed to new members from end of February

At its monthly meeting on Thursday 23 February, your Committee of Management reluctantly took the decision to close our U3A to new members from the end of February. This cap on membership will be reviewed at the end of Term 2.

We have closed our U3A to new members because we are currently at absolute capacity with over 2,400 members. This is approximately 300 more members than we had prior to the pandemic.

Our classes are at capacity and, as many of you will have experienced, so is the Hub car park. Very few classes have vacancies and most have wait lists. Managing this record number of members has also placed enormous pressure on the members who run this wholly volunteer organisation.

We will continue to monitor the situation and when we are able to open to new members, you will be advised.

Enrolling in additional classes

As a current member, you are still able to enrol in additional classes if the class is not closed. You can do this online or by filling out an orange form at the Reception Desk.

Car parking

Please allow a little extra time to get to class because of the pressure on parking and be very careful when driving around the carpark and in Esdale Street. Unfortunately, we have received a number of disappointing reports of impatient driving in these highly congested areas.

As previously advised in our February Update, Whitehorse Parking Officers will be patrolling the Hub car parks and Esdale Street.
