Only three weeks until our U3A September break. How time flies when we do something we enjoy and mix with like-minded people.
To help you plan ahead, in this update we have a list of new and returning courses for Term 4 and advance notice of Christmas preparations, plus a treat for those who love science, and important reminders about recording absences and using the dishwasher.
Important to record your absence
To those of you who have been away, welcome back, to those of you who may be going away or are unwell, please make sure you put in an apology. We check the attendance lists and if we find a member who has not attended or apologised for three weeks or more, we delete them from the class and accept another member from the waitlist. You can apologise online using the Report Absence icon, at the office or by email.
Facilities
Thank you for being patient whilst the Social Enterprise Café work is happening, including pressure on the remaining dishwashers. Remember, the City of Whitehorse Duty Officer is the only person who may run the dishwashers. And make sure to check the notice on top of the dishwasher (see our feature image) to see if it says:
The dishwasher is in progress. Please do not open the door.
Science week
Some of you attended the classes Dr. Christina Hart presented during Science Week. If you would like more information, Christina has published two books. “A Breath of Air and Drops of Water: Molecules in your everyday” and “The Earth’s Atmosphere: how simple molecules and energy from the sun create Earth’s weather and climate“.
Christina has donated a copy of “A Breath of Air and Drops of Water” to us. If you would like to borrow this book please ask a member of the Course Admin team. You can also purchase your own copy of both books from Amazon or Lulu Bookstore. (lulu.com/shop)
