May has been a buzz of activity at the Hub with our members enjoying their classes and social activities. Tickets for our Christmas in July celebration are now available at Reception, details are available in this newsletter. Also in this edition are reports on the get-togethers we’ve had, plus reminders of our upcoming three-week term break and the AGM. Have you considered volunteering for the Committee of Management?
Here we are, half way through Term 2. A couple of reminders for you; a note on some issues we’ve had with emails; new classes available in Term 3; and some class leader changes.
Both carparks at the Hub are being patrolled by the Council Parking Officers. If you receive a parking ticket, we can’t do anything to help you.
Please read the signs carefully and make sure you do not park in restricted areas unless you have the appropriate permit. Also note the time limit is four hours, so don’t stay longer.
You’re invited to the Biggest Morning Tea for a big cause – the fight against cancer – and you can also buy raffle tickets or take a lucky guess to help raise funds.
The date for the Biggest Morning Tea is Thursday 23 May, time 10.30 am to 12.30 pm in the lunch area at the Hub. A plate of food will be available at a cost of $5.00 per plate.
This year’s Christmas in July will be held on Thursday 4 July 2024 from 12 noon at the Mulgrave Country Club. The cost is $40 per person and tickets are now on sale at U3A Nunawading Reception.
So organise a table together with your U3A friends or just book one or two tickets. As a U3A member you can invite one guest to accompany you.
Two events recently brought members together to enjoy a hot cuppa and some cakes and pastries. Recent new members were invited to an afternoon tea to find out more about our U3A, and many members who were at the Hub last Friday stopped for a chat and a lovely morning tea.
Twelve new members attended a New Members Afternoon Tea on Wednesday 1 May.
Our Course Administrator, Elsie Mutton, welcomed the group and spoke about U3A courses and our facilities. Elsie also answered many questions from the enthusiastic group.
A lively morning tea was held at the Hub on Friday 17 May.
U3A members were invited to enjoy pastries and cake with a cup of tea or coffee to round off the week.
