Five new Committee of Management Members were elected at our 33rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on the morning of 16 August at the Nunawading Community Hub. Approximately 90 members and invited guests attended the meeting. See the photo gallery from the event
A session providing information about the Voice Referendum and how a referendum affects the Constitution will be held on Tuesday 12 September, 2023 from 4:00 to 5.00pm in Studio 1.
The Four o’clock Forums are gathering momentum and earning a reputation for increasing knowledge and wellbeing.
The Forums cover a wide-ranging set of topics as shown in this article. We have a report from last month’s session on good health, a reminder of this month’s session on online safety and introducing October’s session on the Bower Studio program helping remote indigenous communities. Great variety!
On Monday 7 August and Thursday 10 August the Member Liaison Sub-committee prepared and served successful morning teas to new members. Though new members have only been able to enrol for class vacancies since Term 3, both sessions were well attended, cheerful and lively. Eighteen attended the Monday session and ten attended the Thursday session.

This is a call out to members who are not currently Class Leaders but have a passion for a particular subject, craft, or activity that they would like to share at next January’s Summer School.

The U3A Nunawading Library is located in the main foyer and operates on an honour system. Simply select a book to take home and return a book for others to enjoy.
We share some happy snaps of members in our French and fishing classes and two leaders celebrating milestone birthdays, plus there is plenty to see and do locally with an open weekend at Heathmont’s nature reserves, family fun during Heritage Week, an interesting art exhibition and a Mega Zumba Neon Party.
A warm welcome to all members returning from the term break. I do hope that many of you were able to catch up with family and friends and enjoy your three-week break from U3A.

We need to be on the lookout for scams, but there are some other basic security steps we should take as well. In the four-week Basic Online Safety course you will not only hear about how to take these basic steps, you’ll put them into practice.
