How do you stop spam?

“I keep on getting spam on my phone and email. How do I stop it?”

This is a question we have discussed quite a bit recently in the Computer Question and Answer sessions. Most of these spam messages are scams and they are becoming more common, particularly on phones.

The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) is warning that the current conflict in the Ukraine also involves cyber attacks that may affect us too, so we should be even more alert.

Wanted: Healthy volunteers for brain disease research

Monash University is seeking healthy volunteers between 40 and 70 years of age to participate in research using brain imaging to measure the cellular mechanisms that drive neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and Lewy Body Dementia. Conducted at Monash Biomedical Imaging in Clayton, the tests take two and a half hours.

Welcome to Term 1

It was wonderful to see so many happy faces returning to classes earlier this month. The last couple of weeks have been very busy preparing for our 2022 U3A year with Reception Desk Volunteers and Class Leaders attending their annual Information Sessions. Along with the Committee of Management, these are the key people who keep the wheels turning at U3A Nunawading.

A group of around 140 of our new and returning Class Leaders were recently briefed by Course Administrator Elsie Mutton OAM on what they needed to know in preparation for the beginning of Term 1. The session covered administration as well as health and safety issues and our current COVID-19 protocols.
