With the current surge in COVID-19 cases, the Committee of Management strongly recommends that members wear masks when at the Hub unless they are doing strenuous exercise.
Out of respect for the health of your fellow members, please do not attend classes if you have any cold, flu or COVID symptoms, or are feeling unwell in any way, even if you have tested negative for COVID.
Congratulations to our Social Committee for organising the Coffee and Cake event in the last week of Term 2 and Christmas in July lunch which were both much appreciated by members.
On 17 August we will be holding our 32nd Annual General Meeting at the Hub. The official Notice of Meeting will be sent to you early in August with all the details.
We were very pleased to host a visit by a photographer from the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing last month. A number of photographs taken by him of our members are featured in the Ageing Well in Victoria Action Plan.
For members looking to join additional classes we have lots of new and interesting classes starting in Term 3, including Craft, Exercise, Humanities and Music which are listed below.
A number of new computer courses are available with the start of the new term. While many of the face-to-face sessions are full, there is still room in the classes below. And see our online safety tip for the month – “How to avoid scam phone calls”.
Members were transported to the Festive Season on Tuesday 5 July as they entered the Hub for U3A Nunawading’s inaugural Christmas in July luncheon.

As part of its program of exhibition visits our Art Appreciation 3 class visited the Australian Tapestry Workshop (ATW) in South Melbourne on 9 June. This extraordinary facility is virtually unknown to the general Victorian populous even though it is a world-class creative institution.
Welcome to Snippets – a new feature of Update which will bring you brief news items from around U3A Nunawading each month, such as social gatherings that go on behind the scenes, interesting items about our members and many other intriguing “snippets” to keep you entertained and informed. Send in your item – 100 words or less plus a picture – for inclusion in next month’s Snippets to communications@u3anunawading.org.au by 10 August.
Uniting Victoria and Tasmania are seeking volunteers in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs to join their Social Support program to help people stay connected with their community.
The Uniting program has clients with a variety of interests, and they look forward to meeting like-minded people from U3A. Volunteer support could include:
