Congratulations to Vice President Valerie Donlon who was presented with her 2021 Council of The Ageing (COTA) Senior Achiever Award at the combined 2021 and 2022 Victorian Senior of the Year Awards Ceremony at Government House in late October. The 2021 awards ceremony was cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions.
You can now see what classes are being offered by U3A Nunawading next year by visiting our website https://u3anunawading.org.au/courses-activities/timetable/ or by picking up a 2023 Class Guide and 2023 Summer School Guide at the Reception Desk.
At the moment you can only see the class details online, you cannot actually enrol until Monday 28 November from 9.00am. New members will be able to enrol from Wednesday 30 November.
The 2023 Course Program is now available online and in booklet form from the Reception Desk.
Check your classes
Please carefully check the description, time and place of the classes you wish to attend, as a number of our classes have moved or changed.
Last week was Scams Awareness Week and there was plenty to talk about!
With the current data breaches and with scammers continually developing new ways to catch people out, we need to be more careful to check for those little clues that alert us to a scam. ACCAN (Australian Communications Consumer Action Network) has a quick video that summarises some key rules on how to avoid scams.
The cold and wet weather did not dampen the enthusiasm of the almost 90 members and guests who attended our inaugural Cup Eve event at the Hub.
Organised by our busy Social Committee, this was their last event of the year and they spared no effort in ensuring all who attended had a great time as our photos clearly show.
Only two weeks after the launch of the Whitehorse Seniors Festival, the Nunawading Community Hub again played host to a community event with more than twenty thousand visitors to the 2022 Whitehorse Spring Festival.
Despite some muddy patches in Tunstall Park, the sun shone on a wonderful array of performances, activities, community stalls, roving entertainers, rides and food vendors, with the trapeze act set up on the lawns outside the Hub drawing gasps from the crowd with their high-flying performances throughout the day.
Welcome to November Snippets. This month you are invited to a concert and to play tennis; we see a class managing the wet and visit another in the evening, get a taste for a unique Summer School class, learn about Swedish gnomes and congratulate a member on her special award.
