President’s Report
There’s a lot happening at the moment. Planning for 2024 enrolment is underway as is planning for the 2024 Summer School. Both the Seniors and Spring Festivals, are nearly here where we will be involved in a number of activities. And with the end of Term 3 coming up, our Social Committee is offering another Coffee & Cake event to round off the term.

In this newsletter, we share key dates for 2024 enrolments; request interest from potential 2024 class leaders; list interesting classes that have vacancies in Term 4; provide an update on the Body Scan sessions and announce four Christmas workshops. There’s also a reminder of the Information Session on The Voice Referendum and a link to the State Library of Victoria Referendum Resources.
Summer School 2024 reminder
Planning for our Summer School is well underway and we have some exciting events in the pipeline. We already have sessions that will inspire and put you in the mood for the start of the new year at U3A.
Summer School 2024 classes will be held on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 22, 23, 24 and 25 January (26 January is a public holiday). Excursions will be held the following week from Monday 29 January to Friday 2 February. U3A classes start on Monday 5 February.
Vale Jacqueline Bécu – an inspirational French class leader
Jacqueline Bécu, along with Mary Churchward, were inaugural French class leaders which, at that time, were French culture and conversation classes which started in 1990. They instilled a passion for all things French in their students.
Make the most of the Seniors and Spring Festivals
October is a month of fun and festivities with the Seniors and Spring Festivals providing lots to see and do. It’s a chance to learn, laugh and enjoy some excellent entertainment.

Snippets
As we step into Spring, this sunny edition of Snippets includes the Whitehorse Council’s school holiday program; a chance to have your say on the Positive Ageing Service; a call for Meals on Wheels volunteers; an important thunderstorm asthma warning; and an update on the old U3A premises at Silver Grove.
