A highlight of the past month has been our celebration of Mary Nathan’s 100th birthday. Looking forward, we have Christmas in July coming up during our three-week term break and the Annual General Meeting in August, with planning already underway.
Term 2 is now drawing to a close. Term 2 is now drawing to a close. We have quite a few new courses starting up in Terms 3 and 4 – some are listed at the bottom of this article while you will find Term 3 and 4 computer classes in a separate article in this newsletter. If you want to know whether there is room in a class, we now have a “spare” computer at reception where you can check for yourself – read on for details.
Something for everyone – from novice to advanced -in our computer classes for the rest of the year. Note that these are all short courses, so they are not a big commitment for the extra skills you’ll gain.
These are popular courses, so make sure you put a reminder in your calendar if you enrol – if you forget to turn up you are stopping someone else from taking the place!

On 30 May, we celebrated our first current member reaching their 100th birthday. Mary Nathan is a long-time member of U3A Nunawading and currently attends weekly exercise classes, plays Cards and enjoys Mah Jong Eastern style.
Over a dozen members of the Military History class took part in a rather unusual visit to the Melbourne Shrine of Remembrance this term.
Class member Bill Cherry had suggested a walk to the Shrine to view the memorials along the parklands bordering St Kilda Rd. To make the experience more memorable he requested Class Coordinator Gilbert Foster to ask some of the class members to give a brief talk at each location describing the memorial and a short potted history of the individual depicted.
